Finding your way on and around Bowen Island

Getting to the island

You may want to leave the car at home. Bowen Island and Arbutus B&B are easily accessible via public transit from Vancouver.

Take the ferry from Horseshoe Bay (15 min.).

You can walk (10 minutes) or take the Island Bus Service: Eaglecliff # 10 bus (5 minutes to Arbutus B&B).

When you step off the ferry you may use your Translink ticket on the island bus to Deep Bay and ask to be left in front of our driftwood garden gate at 1131 Lenora Road.

Directions for walkers (10-15 min) and cyclists

  • turn right when you get off ferry
  • walk past cabins and Crippen Park entrance
  • at curve leave Cardena road and continue (due North) on path across causeway
  • where path joins Melmore, turn left (due west)
  • at intersection (T-junction) turn (right) onto Lenora &
  • walk around ½ a block. You’re here!

To find your way at night bring a flashlight.

Driving to Arbutus B&B

Look at the Google area map and then type ‘1131 Lenora Road’ into the location field.

For the ferry to Bowen Island, take Highway 99 to Horseshoe Bay Ferry Terminal. Line up for Bowen Island ferry “The Queen of Capilano”, or park in any of the pay parking lots adjoining the ferry terminal and walk on.

After arriving in Snug Cove:

  • drive off ferry up to the 4 way intersection,
  • turn right onto Miller road,
  • drive (north) to next intersection (T-junction),
  • turn right into Melmore,
  • at fork (almost immediately), turn left into Lenora,
  • Arbutus B&B is ½ way round block on the North (left) side of road: Watch for blackberry brambles, a driftwood gate lit with small xmas lights; pull over at the hedge and cedar fence. Welcome to 1131 Lenora Road!

We'll be happy to lend you our two mountain bikes to get around from here, or you can ride the local buses for about an hour long loop and get a comprehensive tour of each route.
